My Monkey King Staff Replica

This is a Monkey King staff that I created for an archaeology college course on material culture. It is made from a black iron pipe, which fits the literary description of the weapon. The ancient "Small Script" Chinese characters read "The Compliant Golden-Hooped Rod. Weight: 17,550 lbs." Those interested in making their own staff can get a template for the characters here.

I printed out the characters and laid them over a long strip of painter's tape. I then used a razor pen to cut out the characters. I highly suggest cutting a line between each character after you are done so each can be peeled up individually. Peeling up the entire strip will be IMPOSSIBLE because the frail material will tear easily.

I'll try to get some up-close photos when I finally get the staff back from my professor. It's currently on display with the items made by other students.
